I offer piano lessons year-round to students of all ages and levels in the Rochester, NY area. Music theory and composition lessons are also available.

My primary goal as a music educator is to empower students to learn independently, by creating an environment where the students can experience music to their fullest potential regardless of their ability. Students thrive with the unique, well-balanced approach I work to provide.

Elizabeth Phillips' versatile repertoire ranges from early music to contemporary opera to avant garde. In addition to being an accomplished recitalist, she has also been a featured soloist for orchestras throughout the United States.  Her eclectic style has led to collaborations with Julianne Baird, Malcolm Bilson, Steve Reich and Bobby McFerrin and is also evident in her work with the acclaimed avant cappella trio, F’loom, which performs and teaches throughout the U.S., Canada and in Europe.   Ms. Phillips is the soloist and section leader at the Lutheran Church of the Incarnate Word in Rochester, NY (Michael Unger, director) and holds adjunct faculty positions at Nazareth College and Rochester Institute of Technology.   She manages a thriving private studio and her masterclass, Instinctive Singing, offers coaching in vocal performance and dramatic interpretation to students from high school through the collegiate level.  An experienced adjudicator, she facilitated the Proctors Theatre A Cappella Festival in Schenectady, NY, where she also co-curated The Dangerous Music Series.   Ms. Phillips is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music where she was awarded their prestigious Performer’s Certificate in Voice.  She resides in western New York with her husband, her daughters, a three-legged cat and an enormous dog.
